Flexibility is built into all degree programmes at Lancaster. Specifically, this means that our nine single-honours degrees share a common core for the first two years, thus building foundations for further study in each of the disciplines of algebra, analysis, probability and statistics. In the second year, you choose to complete either a three year BSc Hons, or a four year MSci, specialising in either pure mathematics or statistics, or taking a combination of the two.

Our four year MEng in Mechanical Engineering is fully accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and builds upon the BEng scheme offering opportunity for you to develop your leadership, entrepreneurial and management potential as well as deeper understanding in technical challenge.

The four year MEng in Mechatronics is fully accredited by Institution of Engineering Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) providing a direct path to becoming CEng with appropriate industrial awareness and experience. The broad technical understanding and leadership skills gained within the MEng makes Mechatronic Engineering graduates particularly attractive to industry and provides flexibility within their career often moving towards management roles.
Your Medicine and Surgery course (MBChB) will be delivered through problem-based learning, supplemented with lectures, and clinical anatomy teaching. You will be trained in clinical and communication skills and you will spend years 2-5 on clinical placements in the acute hospitals and primary care settings of Lancashire and Cumbria. You can also pursue your own areas of interest through four Special Study Modules (SSMs) that broaden your experience and develop skills that are essential for applying scientific rigour in your future medical practice.

Lancaster's MLang degree is a selective and accelerated programme enabling you to achieve an MA in one or two languages and related studies in four years. It is taught by the Department of Languages and Cultures which ranks in the national top 15 for language studies, including 2nd in the UK for French and German Studies in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017, and 5th for Iberian Languages in the Complete University Guide 2017.
